Workplace Safety

PACCAR strives for excellence in quality, excellence in productivity and excellence in safety performance.
Continued vigilance on all matters related to workplace safety is a cornerstone that keeps our facilities profitable and employees safe.
Many company facilities have implemented OSHAS 18001 as the health and safety management system.

PACCAR's consistent focus on workplace safety has resulted in a recordable injury/illness rate about 50 percent lower than the industry average.

Employee Training

Safety is a top priority during employee orientation at all facilities. At our newest facility, the DAF-Brasil Assembly Plant in Ponta Grossa, Brasil (2013), employees completed a thorough safety training course before production started to ensure they adopt PACCAR's commitment to a strong safety culture. This resulted in a first full year of operation in 2014 without one lost time accident.

Safe Work Practices — All Day Every Day

Safety is the responsibility of each PACCAR employee. Company managers address safety items every day in morning meetings, provide regular refresher training, and use PACCAR Production System boards located in plant communication centers to provide all employees with visibility to the status of all safety action items.

Safety from the Top Down

Senior management demonstrates its commitment to workplace safety each year when the President's Cup for Excellence in Safety is awarded at a Company ceremony attended by senior officials from all Company locations. The award is presented to those facilities that best demonstrate excellence in employee training, procedures and engineering safeguards.
